Clapham Junction topped the poll when Wandsworth residents were asked to suggest locations for the Barclays Cycle Hire stations. Battersea MP Jane Ellison who has been campaigning to bring the ’Boris Bikes’ to Battersea put forward a number of suggestions which included Clapham Junction. Areas close to Battersea Park were also popular among residents.

Jane Ellison said: "I am really pleased that there is such enthusiasm from the public to have bike stations in the area. The Council will be conducting feasibility investigations to explore the proposed locations and I hope that in due course they will be able to announce a list of about 80 stations in separate sites across north Battersea. Dick Tracey, the Wandsworth Assembly Member and I have campaigned hard to get these bikes into south-west London and I look forward greatly to 2013 when we will see the blue bikes being used."
